Security firm SlowMist has issued a warning about a new scam targeting cryptocurrency users. These scams often involve the use of ChatGPT-related arbitrage MEV (miner extractable value) robots.
How the scams work:
Scammers often claim that the bot’s code was generated by ChatGPT to appear more credible. Victims are promised passive income through arbitrage opportunities. Users are instructed to connect their MetaMask wallet to a fake Remix site. Once the contract is activated, the deposited ETH is sent to the scammer’s wallet.
Red flags to watch out for:
- Out-of-sync videos and audio: This is a common sign of recycled footage.
- Bought accounts: Scam accounts often have a history of buying followers or engagement.
- Negative comments: Scroll through the comments to see if there are warnings from victims.
How to protect yourself:
- Avoid clicking unknown links or running suspicious code.
- Verify the authenticity of any ChatGPT-related claims.
- Be cautious of promises of easy profits.
- Use reputable wallets and platforms.
