Worldcoin Partners with MIMOS to Enhance Digital Proof of Humanness in Malaysia

Andrei IonescuBy Andrei IonescuFriday, 16 August 2024, 13:12No Comments2 Mins Read

In a move to strengthen Malaysia’s digital infrastructure, MIMOS Berhad, the applied R&D arm of the Malaysian Government, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Worldcoin Foundation, Tools for Humanity (TFH), and MyEG, a leading e-government service provider. This collaboration aims to integrate Worldcoin’s technology into the country’s digital systems, focusing on digital proof of humanness in the era of artificial intelligence.

The partnership seeks to leverage Worldcoin’s protocol and TFH’s cutting-edge technologies to enhance digital credential initiatives in Malaysia. A core element of this integration involves providing Malaysian citizens with access to advanced iris imaging technology, developed by TFH, to verify individual humanness through Worldcoin’s operations.

    Key Areas of Collaboration

The MoU outlines several potential avenues for joint efforts, including:

    • Orb Manufacturing: Exploring local production of Worldcoin’s iris-scanning devices, known as Orbs.
    • Blockchain Integration: Bridging Worldcoin’s blockchain infrastructure with Malaysia’s National Blockchain Infrastructure.
    • Technology Deployment: MyEG will focus on technical integrations and hardware deployment to support MIMOS’s digital initiatives.

The Worldcoin Foundation has committed to ensuring its technology remains open-source and freely accessible. Additionally, TFH will provide technical support for both the Orb and World App, while MyEG will handle the implementation and rollout.

    Global Privacy and Security Measures

This partnership follows Worldcoin’s recent expansions in Europe and Latin America. To date, over 6.4 million individuals worldwide have verified their humanness using Worldcoin’s biometric system.

Earlier this year, Worldcoin introduced a secure multi-party computation (SMPC) system, enhancing the privacy and security of biometric data. This cryptographic breakthrough allows the verification of unique iris codes without revealing any personal information, ensuring robust protection against data misuse.
